Sesame String Beans

Try this new asian twist on your classic green beans!

Ingredients

  • Four cups of fresh green beans – stems removed
  • Six to eight cloves of garlic – minced
  • Two tbsp oil of your choice – we used olive oil
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp of soy sauce – divided
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

Directions

  • Put your pan on medium to medium-low heat and add oil
  • Once the oil is heated, add your minced garlic and sauté for about 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown
  • Add the 1/3 cup of soy sauce, along with the salt, pepper, and turmeric
  • Mix together well
  • Continue cooking this mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring consistently until it is thick and syrupy
  • Add in your sesame seeds, additional tbsp of soy sauce, and green beans
  • Toss gently to coat and cover
  • Cook for about 8-10 additional minutes, stirring every minute or two until tender

*May be served with rice for a heartier dish.
